Chris started playing the flute at the age of 14. Ever since his flute teacher Joe Li introduced him to the world of flute music, Chris has not looked back. He completed his graded exams within 4 years and became a founding member of the award-winning concert band O Wind Ensemble in Hong Kong. After settling in Sydney permanently in 2015, he has performed with the Leichhardt Wind OrchestraNSW Railway BandSydney Wind Symphony, and Strathfield Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2019, Chris has been an in-house repair technician at Flutes & Flutists, working and training with Jim Phelan - one of the most renowned flute makers in the world. Chris has been studying the art of flute making with Jim, from machine operations, tool-making, metallurgy, to engineering sciences (calculus included!). Having a complete understanding of how a flute is constructed from the ground up allows him to care for a client’s instrument on a level rarely seen outside of the world’s top flute-makers’ workshops.

Outside of music, Chris was trained as an allied health professional in the areas of speech-language pathology and audiology. Having spent most of his clinical life working with paediatric and adolescent clients with special educational needs, Chris' unwavering patience and attentiveness to his client's needs was honed during this time. Later in 2016, he became a dental assistant, assisting in dental procedures in orthodontics, endodontics, surgical extraction, and implants. He also picked up a skill or two in denture repairs and making orthodontic retainers. Chris is pleased to bring along all these assets, together with his fine-motor skills and client-centred practice mentality to Flutes & Flutists.
